The Fireworks Shows at Epcot and Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World Are an Explosive Experience

You go to the Magic Kingdom, stand in the middle of Main Street looking toward Cinderella's Castle and watch; you find a railing around the World Showcase in Epcot and watch; you bypass the wings and sit anywhere in the wide center at Fantasmic and watch. Fireworks at Walt Disney World are an explosive experience every night! Plus its easy to find a great place to enjoy them.

It is also very likely that Disney is the largest single user of fireworks in the country. They probably classify as one of the most armed places in the world (but still the happiest place on earth). One estimate is that 1,800 firework shells are used every day at Walt Disney World. The Wishes fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom alone is only 12 minute and purports to use over 650 shells.

Disney World fireworks are very exciting and have interesting details. For example, remember to watch closely at the Magic Kingdom show, so you can catch Tinkerbell flying across the sky, best seen from in front of the castle. Jiminy Cricket will be your evening storyteller with a heartwarming musical background supplementing the event.

The fireworks at Epcot and the Magic Kingdom can be seen from many places at those Parks, but some people like to find that "special place" and make it our own for future visits. And if you look around the many Disney fan sites, blogs and boards on the Internet, everyone has their best place to watch.

A true fan favorite for Wishes is the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage. This used to be just for Grand Gatherings (a perk for large group reservations) but no more. Along with your host, Patch the Pirate, you go by boat for a close-up of the Electrical Water Pageant (when scheduled) and then one of the most entertaining views of Wishes anyone can imagine, while floating on the Seven Seas Lagoon. On your ship you are entertained by a comical pirate Patch, leading you in song and Disney trivia games. When the ship anchors mid-lake, the view of Cinderella Castle and the extravagant fireworks show is simply "magical". When you return Patch talks a little about Peter Pan, and guess who meets you when the boat docks.

Apparently, for the Orlando area Disney fans, many have dinner and then hit the beach at the Polynesian Resort for the water pageant and the fireworks. This is a very popular location so it is crowded; but so are the parks and they take you at least a half-hour or more to get out of. From a resort, access to transportation is much closer.

At Epcot, the IllumiNations show can be seen from nearly anywhere around the lake, but some places are highly sought after, such as outside the Rose and Crown in England. But if you want the best views, be prepared to set yourself up to an hour in advance along World Showcase at waters edge.

IllumiNations is also a 12 minute show highlighted with a giant globe of the earth in the middle of Epcot's World Showcase Lagoon that opens like the petals of a flower showing a colorful fire and light show. Video along a water mist screen is included, surrounded by a thousand firework shells during the show along with torches and flames. In a word...Wow!

Each evening boatloads of visitors depart in rented watercraft from the docks of Disney's Contemporary Resort, Boardwalk Inn and Yacht Club headed for Epcot where, from a prime position on the lake, is a view of the Illuminations fireworks that can't be beat.

One of the best sources of information on days and times of fireworks presentations is the Internet. For example, on AllEars.Net, the most comprehensive Disney fan site on the web, you will find the hours to see fireworks at the parks. Another Walt Disney World fan web site is a live entertainment guide authored by Steve Soares that includes everything going on (where and when) in all the parks and elsewhere at Walt Disney World, including fireworks. And specifically for the Magic Kingdom show, Lou Mongello on his WDW Radio web site under the 'Trivia' tab, you will find detailed information about Wishes including details on the cast, the crew, the music and the history behind this spectacular pyrotechnic demonstration.

The fireworks at Walt Disney World are a one-of-a-kind experience, and have various iterations depending on the holiday seasons. These are events the whole family will enjoy and talk about for years to come.
